Aa Han Thai is the kind of place you recommend to friends the moment they ask where to find comforting, honest Thai food in Helsinki. Located on Mechelininkatu 17 in the 00100 area, this Thai restaurant feels approachable from the first step inside, with a relaxed atmosphere that suits both quick lunches and unhurried dinners. I usually describe it as straightforward in the best way: clear flavors, familiar Thai classics, and a setting that doesn’t try too hard. Whether you choose to dine in or grab takeaway, the experience stays consistent, which matters when you want food you can rely on. The menu leans into well-loved Thai dishes, balancing spice, sweetness, and freshness in a way that feels authentic without being intimidating. At the same time, the service keeps things easy and friendly, so even first-time visitors feel comfortable asking questions or adjusting spice levels. Aa Han Thai also works well as a casual evening spot, especially since the offerings include alcohol alongside beer, wine, and coffee, making it simple to pair your meal with whatever suits your mood. I often point out that it’s a practical choice too, because the location is central enough to fit into a busy day, yet calm enough to slow down once you’re inside. What really stands out for me is how naturally everything comes together, from the food to the service options, creating a place that feels dependable rather than flashy. If you’re introducing someone to Thai food or just craving familiar flavors done with care, Aa Han Thai fits smoothly into everyday plans without feeling like a special-occasion-only restaurant. It appeals to office workers, locals, and visitors alike, because the atmosphere stays welcoming at different times of day, from relaxed lunches to quieter evenings. The focus remains on comfort, clarity, and steady quality, which is why I keep bringing people here when I want Thai food that simply works.

Have had dinner many times here (+ take aways) and it never disappoints. Meals are delicious, generous in size, and prepared quickly. I love their warm and cold dishes, they taste very authentic. I've ordered several dishes multiple times and the flavors have been very consistent. The service is humble, fast, and overall friendly. The only downside is that the restaurant itself can be a bit warm during summer time. Luckily Finland is known for its cold months :)
The food is absolutely great. I ordered the chicken in chili sauce with rice. The flavours were spicy, unique and deep. After a few experiences from different thai restaurants in Helsinki area, this is so far clearly the best thai food. The service is good and friendly and the food taste and quality for the price is just amazing. Highly recommended.
If you are searching for the best Thai food in Helsinki, Aa Han Thai is the place to go. This small, unassuming spot serves up incredibly authentic Thai dishes that rival anything you would find in Thailand. The Som Tum, Pineapple Fried Rice with Prawns, and Fried Talapia Fish in Sour Sauce, Chili and Mint are absolutely delectable. The chefs clearly know their craft, and each dish bursts with fresh, vibrant flavors. Friendly service and cozy vibes make it even better—this might just be Helsinki's best-kept Thai secret. Note: The fish takes an hour to be prepared. Order in advance or go early when the restaurant is not busy. Otherwise, it might not be served.
Tell us what you ordered and what it cost. Two or three sentences about one dish is more useful to the next person than a star rating.
